Game Change in the Gulf of Guinea: three intertwined perspectives on sino-equatoguinean cooperation

The Republic of Equatorial Guinea (EG) joined the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China Portuguese speaking Countries (Forum Macao) in 2022, becoming tenth member-state. This occurred during 2022 Extraordinary Ministerial Conference, after it acceded to Community Portuguese-Speaking (CPLP) 2014. Since 2015, EG have been intensifying their bilateral cooperation establishing a comprehensive cooperative partnership (Ministry Foreign Affairs People’s China, 2015). In 2019, two countries signed Belt Road Initiative (B&RI) MoU second Beijing, initiated strategic approach cooperation. Consequently, considering uniqueness as Portuguese-speaking Country (PSC) newest member Macao, this paper poses answers following research question: What will be impact Sino-Equatoguinean light EG’s recent accession FM? Methodologically, uses qualitative data supported by triangular referencing, including official non-official sources, namely statistics, academic papers, media reports, look into relations under B&RI Lusophone framework, well fact that is CPLP member- state.
